A week in Switzerland
Arrive in Zurich airport and take a train to Lucerne (approx. 1.5 hrs), where you check in at your 4* deluxe apartment. For the rest of the day you are free to explore the beautiful scenery or to go shopping. Overnight stay at Engelberg.
Take the train to Interlaken OST station then board the train to Kleine Scheidegg via Lauterbrunnen (approx. 1.5 hrs). The famous Jungfrau railway takes you to the highest station in Europe (approx. 1 hrs). A day of fun and excitement is awaiting you in the captivating snow peaks of Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe (3’454 m/11’333 ft). Visit the Ice Cave with its ice formations or else explore the snow on the glacier. You find a range of international restaurants on the Jungfraujoch. Return to Interlaken (approx. 2.5 hrs) by train with an optional stopover in Grindelwald. Overnight stay at Engelberg.
Morning excursion to Mount Titlis - at 3020 m/10'000 ft. From Engelberg where you board a gondola which takes you up to the Trübsee. You continue your trip by another gondola to Stand and finally the first revolving Titlis Rotair cablecar takes you up to Mount Titlis. For a spectacular, close-up insight into a glacier, visit the glacier cave and ride the Ice Flyer chairlift. Overnight stay in Engelberg.
Take the train to Zurich where you will go enjoy the Rhine Falls – Europe’s largest waterfall. While the Rhine Falls are not known for their height, their width is spectacular. And on a sunny day, the spray from the falls creates colorful rainbows all around. Visitors can take the 42-minute train to Schaffhausen direct from Zurich. From there, you can opt to walk along the river to Neuhausen (approximately 45minutes) or you can take the #1 or #6 bus from Schaffhausen to Neuhausen. From here, the Rhine Falls are just a five minute walk away, and there are plenty of signs posted along the route. If you’re traveling to Zurich on either business or pleasure, this is a perfect day trip into some of Switzerland’s most magnificent natural beauty. Overnight stay in Engelberg.
Take the train to Lucerne. The other big mountain that can be (and must be) visited from Lucerne is Mount Rigi - at 1800m above sea level, called "Queen of Mountains". From Lucerne you take one of the SGV boats to Vitznau. From Vitznau you take the cogwheel trains operated by Mt. Rigi Railways (optional trains are spectacular: 2 steam locomotives from the early 20th century, 2 belle epoque saloon coaches) up to the Rigi Kulm for a view of Lake Lucerne, the Alps and the city of Lucerne. You then descend from Rigi Kaltbad to Weggis with the Panoramic Aerial Cableway. You can start this tour as per your comfort. Overnight stay at Engelberg.
Take a train to Lugano to visit the Swiss Miniatur. Swiss Miniatur shows you the most picturesque sites of Switzerland: towns, villages, monuments, transportation, etc. All 120 models at scale of 1:25. The Swiss Miniatur's Model Railway has a length of 3560 metres. The whole installation is mechanical and centrally controlled. Inside the park, there is one self-service restaurant which offers not only the continental food, but also Chinese and Indian specialty meals. Souvenirs are also available from the Kiosk. In the morning, travel to Zermatt via Interlaken by train. Experience crystal clear lakes, sparkling streams and fantastic falls, caressed by the sunbeams.
